My Thoughts: Etude House Shini Star Lip Balm #5 Guava Review

1:10 PM

Hi guys! Here is part 2 of my 3 item review extravaganza from my first Ebay haul :]

Expectations:
  • Moisturizing! Since it is categorized as a lip balm I was hoping that it would be some what moisturizing with a light pinky tint!
  • Long lasting tint like what I get from my MAC tinted lip conditioner/Tony Moly Gloss
  • A good amount of product. Being super Asian I like to get a bang for my buck! XD
  • There's supposed to be a signature at the bottom of the tin when you finish it! Exciting!
  • I really did't have that many expectations so that is all for that!

Reality:
  • It is definitely moisturizing. For me personally though, it is not adequate enough to use alone in the winter time. If I want my lips to be super smooth and moisturized I just put on lip balm before I use this. It really isn't bad alone though. Passed!
  • It lasts for a decent amount of time (2-3 hours) but if you eat and drink it will definitely wear off. Not really a big deal for me because I want to see my signature at the bottom! XD It does tint your lips a magenta-ish pink color. I was hoping for a lighter warm pink shade. I do have very pigmented lips though. Semi-Passed
  • I won't know what the signature looks like until I finish it up so I can't say how I feel about this expectation ahaha

here is a size comparison with the MAC tinted lip conditioner.
Not sure how much the Shini Balm product contains
but I know the MAC one has 15 grams.

Extra Notes:
  • It has a glossy finish as you can see form the swatch above. Not super over the top glossy though!
  • I kept re-applying when i first got it because I didn't see any color show up on my lips but if you give it like 30 seconds, it becomes tinted. Pretty cool.
  • It has a sweet guava candy scent! It smells gooooooddddddd ♥
  • I LOVE Etude House's packaging and this did not disappoint!
  • I think it is more wearable and natural than my MAC tinted lip conditioner .
  • I was expecting the container to be a bit bigger. When I opened the package I was like "THAT'S IT?!" ahaha! I'm sure it will last awhile though.
  • I got it for $8 from the seller Zinopark on Ebay. It was sealed and came with 2 free samples. I be a satisfied customer ^^

Rating:
Overall I would give it a 3.5/5
It is noting spectacular in my opinion. It is nice to have but I could definitely live without it. I'm not a huge Shinee fan but I think hardcore Shinee fans would love it just because of the signature at the bottom! I will definitely enjoy this product while I have it ^^ I am a huge Etude House fan so of course I am overall very satisfied! Would have gotten a higher score from me if it was the shade I was hoping for teehee I can just conceal my lips before applying this.

EDIT: 3/16 - So it has been awhile since I've had this and I would actually change my score to 4/5! The reason why is when you really let it absorb into your lips you get the prettiest natural shine and soft lips (even without lip balm underneath). It might because the weather is getting warmer but I am definitely not complaining even if its not the light pinky tint I expected! I just have 3 products with the same shade now XD

Hope this review was helpful and look out for the last review from my Ebay haul! Byeeeee!

FTC: I purchased everything with my own money and this is my 110% honest opinions on them!

  10. I think the SHINI star contains about 9 gram and if you dig into it you can see that's still quite a lot.
