Anime Boston Adventure (pic heavy)!

Hey guys! This post is again long over due since it has been a few days since I went to Anime Boston. Better late than never? Haha! I've been having a hard time finding motivation to sit down a type/put together any type of post T__T. Hope you guys enjoy seeing my adventures at my first Anime Convention Anime Boston! I've been wanting to go for maybe 6 years now but something ALWAYS came up rendering me unable to go. You could only imagine how ecstatic I was to be there! I posted a getting ready with me and vlog thing on my Youtube if you guys are interested :D (you def do not have to - just putting it out there!)!

For my makeup, I wanted to do something kind of cute and Anime-like. I kept it pretty netural and even added some falsies! I have never worn falsies out of the house before (usually confined in my room while experimenting with my face lmao) and it was actually pretty fun!

Here I am cheesin' as I happily hold up my Anime Boston pass! It was held at the Hynes Convention Center which is on Boylston St. in Boston. If you guys think that sounds familiar, it is probably because it is the street where the Marathon Bombing occurred :(

There was a beaauittffulll display of 1,000 paper cranes pay tribute to the Boston Bombings. I thought it was beautiful and really amazing to see 1,000 paper cranes and it was very touching knowing someone or someones took the time to do this. I am one proud Bostonian! I love seeing people come together and care and support one another ♥

If you guys aren't familiar with the Hynes Convention Center, it is HUGE! I believe it has 3 or 4 floors and endless long corridors and a plethora of big rooms/halls. Along one of these halls, there was art displayed from people who submit their art in the contest to follow along this year's theme 'Talesof Yokai'. Each piece was so beautiful but I highlighted 2 of my favorites.

This beautiful piece here was the winner of the art contest! ISN'T IT AMAZING?!

The first room we entered was a giant game room. Of course my brother and hubby wanted in on this action. This room was FILLED with screens and xboxes everywhere!!! Each little station had a different game. There also 2 large screens at the back of the room for people to play different Kinect games. Let me just say watching Spiderman play Dragon Ball Z (you have to literally just stand there and punch the air/dodge/jump) was hilarious!! & all in proper DBZ fighting position.

My absolute favorite room was OBVIOUSLY the vendor room. SO many Anime goodies, cute plushies, video game goodness EVERYWHERE oh gosh I was pretty much spazzing. They also had some Kpop booths which was pretty awesome ;P! I didn't any pics of the GINORMOUSSSSS vendor room (I lierally could get lost in there because there are so many aisles and stands) because I was too busy throwing my money at the vendors LMAO. I kid but not really. The pic above is one hubby happened to take as he waited for me to stop gawking at this one plushie stand. I mostly bought gifts for my famILY ♥

We had lunch at Prudential Center which is a big shopping mall that is connected to Hynes. I had a yummy chicken cesar wrap and an 'eh' broccoli and cheddar soup. I'm not a big fan of white onions and for some reason that soup was white onion-y tasting.

We went on the last day so I'm sure there was less people than there were on Friday and Saturday. We still saw some pretty cool costumes and oouu and ahhh'ed at pretty much everything haha! There still were a LOT of people there. All 3 of us had a BLAST! We spent about 5 or 6 hours wandering the halls and entering rooms we thought were interesting. They had ALL types of events and presentations. I was worried my brother would be bored/embarrassed because he doesn't watch a lot of Animes or anything but rather came for the gaming booths. He himself had a ton of fun so I'm glad we were able to enjoy this experience together. Hope you guys enjoyed my pic heavy post! Have you guys ever been to an Anime Convention or ever wanted to go?! LONG TIME NO BLOG (AGAIN)! How is everyone doing?!

I'm sure you heard about the tragic Boston marathon bombings that happened Monday and it is super frightening and saddening since I live in the Boston area and this is the first time something like this has happened to my beloved city. I know everyone is mentioning how things like this (and even worse) happen all around the world everyday but death is death no matter where it happens and it is heartbreaking when innocent people die. Especially where events like that do not happen ordinarily, it can be very shocking - as it was. My deepest condolences and prayers go to those who were affected

Let us transition into something more merry and cheerful though! If you guys did not know, I am Cambodian - American and this past weekend was Cambodian New Year! Sues dey chnam tmey! It is probably my favorite holiday because it is filled with family, food, culture, parties and reflecting upon past, present and looking towards the future.

I thought it would be fun to share a bit of my culture with you guys so here is an OOTD, FOTD as well as my New Year weekend fun!

So this is what my OOTD to the temple! This is my second time wearing traditional clothes and so I was really shy but I feel a lot more proud and comfortable wearing it now that I am older. When I was younger I begged my parents to let me wear khakis and a nice white shirt haha!

As for my FOTD, I decided to keep it simple and clean. Well, I usually like my makeup very simple anyways haha but especially for the temple at 9 AM, I didn't wanna go too cray cray! I went with a neutral eye look and a neutral pink lip.

So what we do is prepare food in the morning or the previous night and put it in this 3 tier food carrier sort of thing. Each level has different food. The last tier has rice which we use to offer to our ancestors during a certain part of the New Year temple ceremonies.

I had so much yummy food and enjoyed it all with my family! I rolled some sushi for us to enjoy and my dad cooked up a big pot of Cambodian style curry! It was sooo goooodd! We usually eat it with those thin vermicelli noodles you see in the white plate above my sushi or with french bread. I personally like mine with french bread. MMM!

We also had steamed fish, fried shrimp, curry chicken wings, hot dogs (for the kids who are not quite fond of traditional food), Cambodian traditional desserts like sticky rice and mangos and sticky rice, banana and black bean in banana leaves. MMMM i love the smell of banana leaves!!

We had some of our extended family over to enjoy all this food and spend time together as well!

I feel very fortunate and lucky to have such a wonderful family and being able to live such a comfortable life! My family struggled so much to get here and to get where they are now and I truly admire their resilience, hard work and bravery. They came to the states with nothing but the clothes on their backs, to a foreign land without knowing the language and have come so far. I feel very proud to be Cambodian-American!

So I introduced Totoro to one of my little cousins and she fell in love with him and the movie! I whipped together this little plushie keychain for her after watching it haha!

I have also been pretty obssessed with BTOB lately. I was sucked in after seeing their norebang videos because I personally love seeing idols acting random and being themselves (because of course I can relate to that)! I watched all the episodes of their diary, B+ diary and Sik's Sense & omfg they are HILARIOUUSSS!! I even got my mom into them and she watched the diary episodes with me too!

Peniel is my favorite member and let us just take time to appreciate his adorkable dance in a rooster hoodie shall we? This is from ep 4 or 5 of B+ diary and I nearly rofled off my bed on this episode haha!

Greetings from a very snowy Boston!

There is a storm brewing ONCE AGAIN in the North East (surprise suprise [sarcasm]) and I am very ill.

Not as in super awesomely cool but actually sick. I've been terribly sick since Tuesday and haven't been this sick since I was 9. My body seems to be having a hard time fending off this flu thang!

Anyhoo, back to some fun and less germy matters. I am writing this post today to share my review and swatches of one of the new NYX Love In Paris palettes! YAY! I was really looking forward to these palettes and so glad I was able to grab the one I wanted!

You guys know I love neutral colors and figured this would be a more smaller, more budget friendly version of the UD Naked Palette. Although there is another that is much more similar I just like the colors in this palette particularly.

PACKAGING:

The packaging is ADORABLE and reminds me a lot of my beloved Etude House packaging.

It has a cute bow at the opening. Doesn't feel super cheap or anything. Very decently made!

COLORS:

The NYX website describes this palette as having:

Shimmery & matte nudes, beiges & pink

PIGMENTATION:

Ehhh. It's not super amazing but put them over a base and BAM! Much better! I will say that the lighter colors (the white and pink in particular) are not very pigmented when used by themselves. The swatches I did are all without base which really isn't bad at all for a $10 palette!

TEXTURE:

Some of the colors are a bit powdery and chalky (especially the lighter matte colors). I really like the darker browns because they are very smoothhhhh. I've been using the darkest brown as my brow color and it is perfect!

BLENDABLE?:

Yeah they're pretty blendable! Even the powdery shades, if you tap off the excess and apply, they blend very easily!

FINAL THOUGHTS:

❤ ADORABLE packaging

❤ Affordable price point

❤ Nice neutral colors for everyday/travel

❤ Decent pigmentation. Much better w. primer

I'd recommend it if you guys are in the market for a decently priced palette with good pigmentation!
